Growth + Impact

Our Impact Footprint

Today, we directly serve nearly 225 students across Chicago. This includes 5th-9th graders at Lawndale Community Academy, 4th-7th graders at Richard Yates Elementary School, and 4th-6th graders at both Bernhard Moos Elementary School and Charles Sumner Math and Science Community Academy, in the North Lawndale and Humboldt Park communities.

To prepare for expansion to Moos and Sumner, our third and fourth site, our team worked hand-in-hand with the community throughout Summer 2019, building and equipping the Pitch In Resource Room with Rosemary Wormley of Ash Interiors, who generously donated her time and talent to design an innovative Pitch In classroom space and reinvigorate each school’s library. Pitch in also had the opportunity to collaborate with Humboldt park resident and renowned artist Antonio Beniquez and Lymelite Studio to create a one-of-a-kind mural within the Moos classroom.

During Summer 2021, Pitch In partnered with Taylor Staten of TnS Architecture & Design firm to renovate and redesign our founding Pitch In Resource Room at Lawndale Community Academy. We also partnered with muralist John Vergara who collaborated with LCA students and created a one-of-a-kind mural in the classroom.

Looking ahead, we are charting an inspiring, strategic path toward serving ten Chicago school communities by 2022. We will continue to serve the North Lawndale and Humboldt Park neighborhoods, and aspire to grow to Austin, Englewood, and Roseland in the years ahead.
